What is Scholarships about?

2011 Southern Hospitality Scholarships

20 scholarships to the value of $2,000 are being made available for second
year students training in all areas of the hospitality industry.
The number of awards is limited to 20 throughout New Zealand each to the equivalent of $2000.00
inclusive of G.S.T. All entries will be scrutinised separately by Howard Osborne and Anita Sarginson,
who will select the recipients. Applications will close on 30th October 2010 and all winners will
be notified 11th December 2010. You must be currently studying as stated above at the time of
selection.
Only fully completed applications will be considered.
You must send in a completed application answering all questions along with an essay of at least
250 words (this is to be typed or written neatly). It must tell us why this is your chosen field and the
one you wish to pursue and what your future goals are in this field.
You must submit an official transcript of your current year of study and two letters of
recommendation from your head of department and your current tutor.

WITT Scholarships

QUALIFYING CRITERIA
To be considered eligible for a Southern Hospitality Scholarship you must be enrolled and in good
standing at an approved Polytechnic or Technical Institute in New Zealand. You will have completed
the first year of study and are intending to go on and complete a second year of study. You must
be a New Zealand citizen or have permanent residency rights. The combination of your work
experience, prior education or training and current course of study should indicate how prepared
you are for a career in the hospitality industry. You should have a strong academic record and good
character references. All areas of the industry will be considered including Culinary Arts, Pastry,
Patisserie, Restaurant and Hotel Management, Dietetics or Food Science.
