New Plymouth District Council Scholarships
You have the opportunity to make a valued contribution to your community and a real difference in people’s lives. To encourage promising people into the public sector, we are offering a number of tertiary scholarships to Taranaki locals who are studying full-time in areas relevant to the work we do.
We usually award scholarships in the following areas:

- Library studies.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA
Candidates must:
- Consider themselves local to New Plymouth District and live in the district prior to beginning their qualification (may live outside district due to current study).
- Demonstrate an academic ability to perform well in working towards a qualification, but the selection committee shall have regard to other factors such as character, qualities of leadership and contribution to cultural and/or sporting activities.
- Be about to start, or already studying for, a qualification relevant to local government in the fields of instrumentation and electrical engineering, financial analysis, or policy development (social sciences and research).
- Be New Zealand citizens or have New Zealand permanent resident status.
You are bonded to work for up to 2 years on completing your study.
